BridgePort was founded in 1984 by winemakers Richard and Nancy Ponzil, and holds claim to the title of “Oregon’s oldest craft brewery”. The initial brewing facility, the Columbia River Brewery, had a 600-barrel per year capacity. In 1995, BridgePort was acquired by The Gambrinus Company, and has since expanded its capacity to 100,000 barrels per year. BridgePort Brewing Company‘s beers are distributed in eighteen states nationwide, and ranked 49th in the nation for 2009 beer sales.
